Dr. Saad Saad is known as well-known physician that has had a remarkable career and life that has led him around the globe. Born in Palestine, but raised in Kuwait, Dr. Saad Saad was one of eight children. He earned his degree in medicine from Cairo University with honors. He then traveled to England to complete his internship in medicine. Once his internship was completed, Dr. Saad Saad immigrated to the United States of American where he was able to complete his residency in both surgery and pediatric surgery. It surprised many that he chose to earn his board certification in medicine in the United States, as the U.S. has more stringent guidelines to earn board certification including specialized training and passing an exam every ten years to remain board certified.
In the 1980’s, Dr. Saad Saad was both surprised and honored when the Saudi Royal offered him a job as a personal pediatric surgeon for the royal family. It is said that he was offered this position for two primary reasons. One of these was that he spoke Arabic and the other reason was that he was also English speaking, which was a rarity to find among pediatric surgeons in the 1980’s.
While working as the Saudi Royal personal pediatric surgeon, Dr. Saad Saad was based at the King Faisal Hospital. While there he became highly respected with just about everyone who learned of his work, including the Protocol Office and the chief of the hospital. His opinion was sought after many times in hard to decide cases. While working at the King Faisal Hospital, Dr. Saad Saad not only served the royal family of Saudi Arabia, but he also completed surgeries on other patients as well, including poor patients. Dr. Saad Saad strongly believed that everyone should be treated equally and have equal access to everything, including quality health care. One reason he held such strong beliefs was because of his background growing up as an impoverished child.
After returning to the United States, Dr. Saad Saad continued to serve the people in the communities that surrounded him. He also developed a passion for helping people that were in the Holy Land. He served on several medical missions in both the United States and in Jerusalem, where he performed surgeries on many children, some of those surgeries being very complex.
Dr. Saad Saad is known to be an extremely accomplished pediatric surgeon. He has performed literally thousands and thousands of surgeries on the pediatric population, saving countless lives and improving the quality of life for many. While completing these surgeries, he also helped developed new procedures to be used in pediatric surgeries and has also been able to patent two new inventions that have improved the medical field.
